WPC is a member church of the Presbyterian Church of Australia in the State of NSW – referred to as PCNSW. Each state has “enabling” legislation that provides for the church in that state to operate.
The word “Presbyterian” refers to the type of governance of the church. Each local church is governed by a body of elected elders known as “the Session”. Groups of local churches are governed by a higher assembly of elders known as “the presbytery”.
In our case we are part of the Presbytery of the Mid North Coast which includes Presbyterian churches from Forster to Coffs Harbour.
Representatives from the presbyteries meet as the NSW Assembly. Then nationwide they join together in the General Assembly.
More information about PCNSW can be found at https://pcnsw.org.au/ including about how the church is organised, the different ministries of the church, administrative arrangements, church property etc.
